A knowledge exchange platform on norms compliance in war

Hosted at the University of York’s Centre for Applied Human Rights, we work with humanitarian and human rights actors, and with civilian groups engaged in self-protection to co-produce creative strategies for generating respect in armed conflict.

Our research seeks to centre the voices of those with lived experience of conflict. Methodologically, we favour socio-legal approaches and participatory action research. Normatively, we look at, and beyond, international humanitarian law as a framework of compliance for armed actors.
